The v1.7 version of Rift turned it possible for nearly 22,000 couples to get virtually married on Valentine’s Day this year. 44, 000 players, who took part in this marriage, helped Rift to enter its name in the Guinness Book of World Records for maximum number of in-game weddings within 24 hours. The entry of this world record will officially appear in the 2013 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.
Ascended marriages that took place between 9am (Pacific Standard Time) on February 14 and 9am (Pacific Standard Time) on February 15 were considered to offer the prestigious title for most Online Weddings within the span of 24 hours. The players who participated in this Massively Multiplayer Online game were awarded the “Tier of Knots” title.
Ascended weddings proved to be a fantastic means to raise the veil on Rift’s new in-game marriage feature that brings the MMO players together in a wonderful and interesting ways. The gamers, who took part in this dynamic fantasy wedding, approached a wedding vender in the capital city of their faction, bought a ring and presented it to their chosen person. The betrothed was offered the choice to include a scripted wedding ceremony to the nuptials that included an invitation for up to 200 invitees, grand wedding apparels and a conventional walk down the aisle.
Trion Worlds, the developer of Rift, perceives this world record as a massive achievement for its expert development team and devoted community of players. It hopes to introduce this splendid marriage-game element in the world of Telara.
