The Old Republic: A Remarkable Hit in the Gaming Industry
Posted on 2012/02/17
Star Wars: The Old Republic, launched in December 2011, is a big hit in the gaming industry. With its fully-voiced, top-class storylines, the new introduction from BioWare and LucasArts has broken new grounds in online gaming. The fantastic storyline of this video game has already received highest praises from the game-lovers and critics. Laid out thousands of years before the classical Star Wars films, The Old Republic has everything in it to entrap the players as they get together with friends and partners online to fight in heroic wars reminding the movies featuring Star Wars combat against a musical score.
Unlike the most other video games, The Old Republic employs huge number of voice actors to engross the players in to the star world and do not compel the players to go through blocks of text to be a part of the quest. The Old Republic uses Bioware’s “choose-your-own-adventure-esque” technology that offers the participants a decision tree when communicating with the non-playing characters used in the common Mass Effect games. The gamers are supposed to join forces with either the Sith Empire or Galactic Republic and select any of the idyllic star War personas like Sith Inquisitor, Sith Warrior, Smuggler, Imperial Agent, Jedi Consular, Bounty Hunter and Jedi Knight.
A series of tutorial videos is released to help the new players learn the fundamentals of the new game. Each Quick Start Guide directs the players through various stages of the game. Within 2 months of its release, more than 2 million copies of The Old Republic are sold.
